Great news for our ESP32-WROVER! Espressif’s newly-launched module built around ESP32 has just gained CE RED, FCC and SRRC certifications allowing its trading in the European Union, United States and China.

ESP32-WROVER is Espressif’s newly-launched module built around ESP32. It is a powerful module which combines 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi with dual-mode, classic and low-energy, Bluetooth. Compared to our other module, ESP-WROOM-32, ESP32-WROVER has an additional pseudo-static random-access memory (PSRAM) supporting audio products and other applications.

Apart from the ESP32-D0WDQ6 chip which, being scalable and adaptable, lies at the heart of our new module, ESP32-WROVER also contains two central processing units that can be individually controlled. The module’s clock frequency is adjustable and ranges from 80 MHz to 240 MHz. The module uses FreeRTOS as a real-time operating system, and LWIP as a lightweight internet protocol stack which reduces resource usage, while still being able to process TCP streams. A built-in cryptographic engine which ensures communication security is also provided (Transport Layer Security 1.2 supporting hardware acceleration).

ESP32-WROVER is suitable for a wide variety of applications, ranging from low-power sensor networks to voice encoding, music streaming and MP3 decoding. The module supports a data rate of up to 150 Mbps and a 22 dBm output power at the power amplifier. As such, the chip offers industry-leading specifications and the best performance in terms of electronic integration, range, power consumption, and connectivity.

The certification of ESP32-WROVER ensures that our module complies with the essential requirements for health and safety in three major markets. Thus, ESP32-WROVER’s electromagnetic compatibility and efficient use of the radio spectrum opens the door to its international trading across the United States, the European Union and China. This hallmark is yet another step towards the realization of our vision: supporting the Internet-of-Things revolution in a way that promotes green, low-power and secure wireless technology.
