Espressif Announces ESP32-C6 Support for Alexa Connect Kit SDK for Matter
Shanghai, China
Apr 10, 2026
Espressif’s ESP32-C6 platform now supports Amazon’s Alexa Connect Kit SDK for Matter, giving device makers a new option for building feature-rich Alexa-enabled smart home products with Wi-Fi 6 connectivity, strong security, and greater design flexibility.
Espressif Systems (SSE: 688018.SH) is proud to announce that its ESP32-C6 platform now supports the Alexa Connect Kit (ACK) SDK for Matter, giving device makers an additional qualified Espressif platform for building Matter-compatible, Alexa-enabled smart home products. The addition of ESP32-C6 expands the ACK for Matter silicon options already available to manufacturers and enables more advanced product designs with higher processing capability, larger memory footprint, multi-protocol wireless connectivity, and strong device security.
For device makers, this collaboration helps reduce development complexity by combining Amazon’s ACK managed services and Matter-ready device framework with the advanced capabilities of ESP32-C6. ACK handles cloud connectivity, security, firmware, and Alexa integration, allowing developers to focus engineering resources on product differentiation rather than infrastructure — and bring products to market faster while selecting the ESP32 series module that best matches their requirements, from cost-optimized designs to feature-rich devices.
Amazon previously supported ACK for Matter on ESP32-C3, and with the addition of ESP32-C6, the ACK for Matter qualified silicon portfolio now spans multiple Espressif platforms — giving manufacturers broad selection.
ESP32-C6 for More Capable Smart Home Devices
ESP32-C6 is designed for next-generation connected products that need more capability without compromising power efficiency:
- Efficient processing architecture: A 160 MHz RISC-V application core paired with a 20 MHz low-power RISC-V coprocessor enables responsive application performance together with efficient handling of always-on and sleep-mode tasks.
- Wi-Fi 6 connectivity with multi-protocol flexibility: Native Wi-Fi 6 support enables strong wireless performance in increasingly dense home environments, while ESP32-C6’s integrated 802.15.4 and Bluetooth LE capabilities provide additional platform flexibility for broader smart home product designs.
- Certified security foundation: ESP32-C6 has achieved PSA Certified Level 2 and includes hardware security capabilities such as encryption accelerators and digital signature support.
- Greater design flexibility: Expanded GPIO and increased memory headroom support richer peripherals, more complex control logic, and more sophisticated end-product experiences.
ACK SDK for Matter: Faster Development, Managed Lifecycle
With ACK SDK for Matter on ESP32-C6, device makers can benefit from:
- Matter support designed to simplify smart home interoperability
- Alexa integration with managed cloud connectivity
- Frustration Free Setup for smoother device onboarding experience for end customers
- OTA updates, fleet management, logging, and diagnostics through ACK managed services
- Reduced development time and faster time-to-market
The ACK SDK for Matter solution on ESP32-C6 meets Amazon’s rigorous security requirements and expectations for Works with Alexa certification, helping customers purchase smart home products with confidence that they will integrate smoothly with Alexa.
From first power-on through years of operation, ACK managed services keep devices updated, secure, and performing optimally — enabling device makers to maintain and improve their products throughout the device lifecycle without requiring customer intervention.
Espressif and Amazon Drive Smart Home Innovation Forward
“As Alexa Connect Kit adds support for larger application segments with more complex functionality, the ESP32-C6 platform provides device makers with the processing, connectivity options, and memory footprint needed to implement next-generation smart home features," said Ben McInnis, Smart Home Director at Amazon. "This expansion of Alexa Connect Kit demonstrates our commitment to providing partners with a broad selection of qualified silicon platforms.
"We are excited to collaborate with Amazon to bring ACK SDK for Matter support to the ESP32-C6 platform," said Amey Inamdar, Technical Marketing Director of Espressif. "The ESP32-C6 combines high-performance RISC-V processing with an integrated low-power coprocessor, Wi-Fi 6 connectivity, and PSA Level 2 security certification, making it an ideal choice for device makers looking to build feature-rich Matter-compatible smart home products. This collaboration expands the options available to our customers and enables them to select the right ESP32 platform for their specific product requirements, whether they're building entry-level devices or advanced solutions with sophisticated functionality."
