ESP32-E22 is Espressif’s first tri-band Wi-Fi 6E connectivity co-processor, designed for host-based wireless systems operating across the 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, and 6 GHz bands. Built as a Radio Co-Processor (RCP), it offloads Wi-Fi and Bluetooth protocol processing from the host, enabling flexible system architectures with Espressif or third-party processors. Based on Espressif’s self-developed dual-core RISC-V platform and in-house Wi-Fi 6E stack, ESP32-E22 provides a stable, scalable connectivity foundation for next-generation products.

Features

ESP32-E22 introduces 6 GHz Wi-Fi capability to Espressif’s product lineup. By extending Wi-Fi operation into a larger, cleaner spectrum, the device supports higher throughput, lower interference, and improved overall link reliability. With features such as 160 MHz channel bandwidth, 2×2 MU-MIMO, Beamforming, and 1024-QAM modulation, ESP32-E22 can achieve data rates of up to 2.4 Gbps, making it suitable for high-bandwidth and latency-sensitive applications.

In addition to Wi-Fi 6E, ESP32-E22 integrates support for Bluetooth Classic (BR/EDR) and Bluetooth Low Energy 5.4. This ensures compatibility with legacy Bluetooth devices while also supporting modern BLE use cases with improved spectral efficiency and coexistence. Carefully optimized radio-coexistence mechanisms ensure stable performance when Wi-Fi and Bluetooth operate concurrently.

ESP32-E22 is purpose-built as an RCP, handling the complete Wi-Fi and Bluetooth stacks—including authentication, security, scanning, roaming, and the Bluetooth host functionality. This architecture gives developers additional flexibility in system design, enabling performance scaling and reducing the processing load on the host.

To support diverse product designs, ESP32-E22 offers multiple high-speed host interfaces such as PCIe 2.1 and SDIO 3.0.

A dual-core RISC-V processor, developed in-house by Espressif, powers the ESP32-E22’s connectivity subsystem. This architecture is optimized for efficient protocol handling, real-time scheduling, and multi-radio coexistence, enabling the device to deliver consistent tri-band performance across a wide range of deployment scenarios. With its advanced RF front end and carefully tuned firmware, ESP32-E22 guarantees reliable connectivity for demanding wireless applications.
