Great Success for Espressif’s First IoT Workshop at NUS
Singapore
Mar 31, 2023
Espressif and the National University of Singapore have recently co-organised a two-day IoT workshop.
It was an amazing experience for Espressif to offer a two-day IoT workshop to a total of more than a hundred students from the National University of Singapore last month. More specifically, the workshop was attended by students of the Electrical and Computer Engineering course, as well as those at the Engineering Design and Innovation Centre.
The lead instructor of this fun and insightful workshop was software engineer and Espressif’s Technical Marketing Manager Jeroen Domburg, who was assisted by a team of Espressif engineers, including Zhang Wei, Anant Gupta and Yogesh Mantri. Thus, the NUS students who participated in the workshop gained hands-on experience of Espressif's ESP32-C3 and a significant insight into the ways in which ESP32-C3 functions with the support of ESP-IDF.
ESP32-C3 is a single-core Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5 (LE) microcontroller SoC, based on the open-source RISC-V architecture. It strikes the right balance of power, I/O capabilities and security, thus offering the optimal cost-effective solution for connected devices. The availability of Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5 (LE) connectivity not only makes the device's configuration easy, but it also facilitates a variety of use-cases based on dual connectivity.
ESP-IDF is Espressif’s official IoT Development Framework for the ESP32, ESP32-S, ESP32-C and ESP32-H series of SoCs. It provides a self-sufficient SDK for any generic application development on these platforms, using programming languages such as C and C++. ESP-IDF currently powers millions of devices in the field, and enables building a variety of network-connected products, ranging from simple light bulbs and toys to big appliances and industrial devices.
Espressif would like to express its sincere gratitude to Prof. Wee-Seng Soh and Dr. K.Z. Tang for their support in helping and organising these workshops for the students.
